Proper Breathing

Proper Breathing

When exercising with intensity, it is important to breathe efficiently. I have developed my own breathing pattern that I use when I start working out harder. I inhale deeper than usual thru my mouth, and then I do two very short but forceful exhales thru my mouth. I call it my “Double Exhale” breathing pattern.

This breathing pattern makes a big difference when I am breathing hard. The deeper inhale helps me get more oxygen into my lungs, which is used by my active muscles to keep going. The two very short forceful exhales enable me to inhale again sooner, which in turn provides more oxygen to my muscles. If I didn’t breathe this way when I exercise hard, I wouldn’t last as long.
